Cuando tratamos de entender como evoluciona la conciencia, en nosotros como individuos y a través de nosotros como cultura, es importante tener en cuenta el hecho de que nuestra experiencia es percibida, entendida, e interpretada siempre a través del filtro de nuestra cultura y religión. De modo que la manera en que cada uno de nosotros interpretamos el pulso del impulso espiritual en nuestra propia mente y corazón está relacionado directamente con nuestro estado de desarrollo y con nuestra cultura.  El viaje épico de las diferentes interpretaciones del mismo impulso es increíble de contemplar: del chamanismo al paganismo al monoteísmo a altas formas de misticismo no-dual – del culto a la naturaleza como espíritu, al culto de los muchos dioses, al culto de un único y verdadero Dios, al despertar directo de Dios como Espíritu en sí mismo. Es la historia de cómo nuestra capacidad de profundidad espiritual y cognición se ha desarrollado poco a poco, y es una forma de entender la evolución de la conciencia. Interpreting the Spiritual Impulse

When trying to understand how consciousness evolves, in us as individuals and through us as culture, it’s important to appreciate the fact that the way in which our experience is perceived, understood, and interpreted is always through the filter of our own cultural and religious worldview. So the way any one of us interprets the pulsation of the spiritual impulse in our own heart and mind is directly related to both our stage of development and to our station in culture. The epic journey through evolving interpretations of this same impulse is amazing to behold: from shamanism to paganism to monotheism to higher forms of nondual mysticism—from the worship of nature spirits to the worship of many gods to the worship of the one and only God to the direct awakening to God as Spirit Itself. This is the story of how our capacity for spiritual depth and cognition has slowly developed, and it is one way to understand the evolution of consciousness. We can literally witness how our perspective grows in depth and inclusiveness, as our interpretation of the Absolute takes the leap from God as spirit in nature to God as embodied superhero to God as the mythic father figure in the sky, and from there, ultimately, to the mystical realization of the transcendent oneness of consciousness itself.
